Kim Fay East Africa: Fibre Backbone & Enterprise LAN
Client: Kim Fay East Africa — manufacturing and distribution. Engagement: fibre backbone and enterprise LAN, 2023.
The challenge
A manufacturing and distribution operation runs on systems that can’t wait for the network: ERP, warehouse, dispatch. Kim Fay needed a backbone with the capacity to carry all of it, and an access network managed as one estate rather than a pile of unrelated switches.
What Ryantel delivered
- 385 metres of indoor fibre-optic backbone, with splicing, terminations and patching
- Cat6A horizontal cabling throughout
- A centrally managed Ubiquiti enterprise fabric: USW-Pro-Aggregation core and a four-switch PoE access layer
- Configuration, installation and documentation
The result
One fibre spine, one managed fabric, one place to see the whole network. The plant floor and the head office stopped being separate IT estates — which is the prerequisite for everything else a manufacturer wants to do, from ERP integration to automated dispatch confirmations.
